subwoofer not working

I finished installing my stereo, amp and subwoofer, however the subwoofer doesn't see to be working. I bought it new so it shouldn't be faulty. If I check for power at the amp, I'm getting 12.4 volts so is wired up to the battery properly. I have RCA cables connecting the stereo to the amp, as well as the blue wire 'turn on'.

This is my first amp install so I'm not sure what, or where i should check to see where the issue may be.

Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: subwoofer not working

Hi Bro! Check and see if you have a good ground. I had the same prob it was a bad ground. Use a test light to check for both power and ground. Also check it you have power coming from the blue turn on wire when the stereo is on. Let me know how you make out. I have been putting stereo's in vehicles for about 20 yrs. Good luck Bro...

Re: subwoofer not working

Depending on your deck you may need to turn on the subwoofer in the menu. You want to see source voltage at the power wire as well as the blue turn on wire when the key is on, if the amp is lit up you're going in the right direction. Don't forget to tune it before blasting your music or you could smoke the sub depending on what you're running.

Re: subwoofer not working

Have you confirmed that your amp is turning on?
You say you measured the 12V at the amp, but are you getting 12V on the remote lead too? If no, check all your connections, fuses and ground.

If Yes, check your RCAs and as someone else mentioned if your deck allows you to turn the sub on/off via a menu make sure it's on.

Also you're sure the amp is not going into protection mode?

Re: subwoofer not working

The problem is now fixed. I had wired the blue power to the wrong wire on the radio (power antenna i believe) and once i swapped it it powered up.

thanks Guys for your time and help!
