amp in protection mode driving me up a frikkin wall
my amp goes into its own little protection mode. Is there anyway i can CrAnK the volume without this p.o.s. quiting out on me? it doesnt look to good when i pull up at school and the $h!t quits out. ive tried adjusting the output level **** on the amp, but i didnt wanna turn it all the way down cuz that defeats the whole purpose of an amp, nah mean? i turned the **** to 'half, and it still hits pretty descent (for a little while, lol)

You're obviously over-driving it. Either reduce it's load (higher impedance) or turn it down. You could try some cooling fans, but it sounds like that will be more of a band-aid than a cure.

Like said above, you might want to try putting a fan on it. Make sure there is plenty of air space above the amp so the heat can dissipate from the sinks. You might want to turn down the gain on the amp so your not driving it as hard. What kind of amp is it and how many speakers are hooked to each channel?

I sympathize with you, since my amp did the same thing. I could listen to it normally but when a good song came on and I cranked it, the thing would cut off. I had to send it back to the manufacturer to fix it. Good Luck.
like jim said - change the impedence. I had a targa amp that was doing this once...drove me mad! I finally figured out that the amp wasn't stable at 2 ohm bridged. I change the impedence and it worked great. good luck!

Make sure there is enough air being able to curicalate around the amp. Also, make sure you are using the right gauge wire for that type of amp. Too small of a guage will cause the amp to heat up quickly. Especilly if there is a load on it.
