Any advice on these kick panels? They accept a 6.5 round and a tweeter. Do they fit right and do the speakers mount up correctly and stay fastened? Do they sound worth a crap,etc???

 

Mine sound GREAT! A lot has to do more with the speaker than the kick panel itself. Mine did not have any speaker holes so I cut them to fit the speakers I was going to use. (a 6.5" speaker.) You can mount any speaker size smaller than a 6.5" if you choose. Same with the tweeter area. Cut to fit your specific speaker. The Q-forms fit exactly as the stock kicks did also. I wouldn't change a thing about them.

Iirc the Q-forms have an open back and that will hurt mid bass performance. If the Q-form has adequate space (cubic ft.) it isn't hard to fiberglass the back shut for a much better response. It'll make a night and day difference when a driver is in a proper enclosure.

One downside of the Q-forms is that they do protrude into the cabin a fair bit making it difficult to extend your left leg. (see pic)

As they are an "open back", might be and idea to install some metal plus sound deadener to the area behind the speaker (quarter panel)

 

I wonder.. do they get in the way of the clutch in 5 speeds? I have always made my own in the past, but I wouldn't mind modding some q forms this time.. but I have a 5 speed

 

Wow, I didn't realize they stuck out that far!

 

They shouldn't interfere with a 5 speed but you won't be able to extend your leg.

Better option would be to get another pair of factory kick panels and modify/reinforce them. At least they won't protrude as much as the q-forms.

Don't get me wrong, as a direct replacement, the q-forms are good, but for driving any length of time (more than an hour), it gets tiring on the leg.

I have the q- logic kick panels in my 92 camaro with a 5 speed an NO, they don't get in the way. You will rest your foot on the speaker cover and get it dirty. You will lose the ability to straighten your legs on long trips. I've had them 15 years and like them very much. My cousin who owned the car before me installed them and he liked them too. They look and fit great. It would be nice if they were enclosed for airspace/mid bass like a modern car but these are not modern cars anymore. I recommend them.

 

I had some for a couple years and loved em! I preferred how they sounded compared to our factory 4x6 mounted on the dash. It's is True that they kind of interfere when driving on a long trip. It's gets annoying as you will have to remain your leg in the same position without beeing able to stretching it... Another suggestion is to get the Bose kick panels and modify them with your choice of coaxial speakers or small components like I did
