Remove Subs and Amp From Trunk Help

When I purchased the car, the owner before the previous owner (the previous owner's nephew) had this giant stereo system installed in the trunk. The stereo has two kicker subs and this 800 watt amp. It's covered in carpet and is built in a giant box that's higher then the standard trunk height. Anyway to remove this? I never use it and I would love so real trunk space for my hockey gear and for collecting scrap metal.

The nearest Best Buy is over an hour away and right now my transmission is shot. I would love to remove this thing and sell it to put money towards my tranny.

Re: Remove Subs and Amp From Trunk Help

That whole box should just lift out. Most sub boxes just sit in the well. Its going to be really heavy and it helps a lot to have 2 guys, I've done it alone and its doable just takes some muscling it out. The amp looks like it is screwed to some kind of board sitting on the back hump. You should be able to get a look at it better with the big box out. Even with that out there's still nowhere good to put a hockey stick in our cars :/

if you cant lift it, take the speakers out first. hockey stuff isnt bad if you put the seat down. cant imagine hauling metal with it though

If you're running scrap metal you could just take the tops off of the boxes and use them for holding that. Otherwise it's going to ruin the carpeting. Then sell the speakers.

Seems you should stop being a idiotic rdeneck and buy a truck to haul scrap metal... if you've fallen far enough to have to haul scrap metal.

OK, It's not the best idea to haul scrap, but you guys are getting a little abusive. Thread should probably be. I'm sure he figured it out by now.

That's pretty rude and unnecessary. Giving Oklahoma a bad name.

I did lift it out a few days ago with my dads help. Their is a chord sticking out of the back of the sub box that runs into the Amp box. It looks like its a wooden carpeted box. Should I unscrew the amp and try to remove the wires?
Currently my cars in the transmission shop. Ill be able to get more pictures when its out.

You're right god forbid I do something to make a side income to help pay for welding school... I take the scrap steel and aluminum and get cash for it.

But I forgot this is 'merica where working hard is frown upon. Looks like I should drop out of tech school, go to college, get $30,000 in debt to earn a liberal arts degree and end up on welfare.

^ LOL at that!^

The only wire-s coming from the speaker box should be going to the amp. Make sure you disconnect the power wire from the battery and then you should be able to undo all the wires from the amp, then unscrew the amp from the board. lift the board, pull wires thru and either tuck wires away NO BARE ENDS TOUCHING or remove from car.

LOL Well played young man. You may not want to post non essential info like the scrap metal part. Most of us here spend all of our time and money to restore our cars and consider using them in such ways offensive. You will get negative reactions. If they get out of hand, you can click on this symbol in the post to report it.

For the amp, if you remove it, disconnect the hot lead and RCA cables at least from their sources if you don't want to remove interior to get them out. Especially if you plan on putting metal back there.

I can't... They disowned me... for buying a Chevy and for being a Rangers fan instead of a Devils fan.

After I get the car back, Ill remove the amp and subs and before I do anything Ill take the car down to Best Buy or an audio shop to get the wires removed. I don't have access to a garage and I don't think I have the driveway space to remove the interior to get to the wires.
