6x9 Adapter Bracket for 6.5" components...
Has anyone here used these brackets?

Here is a short video on them:
The idea of these brackets are to allow you to place 6.5" components in place of the factory 6x9 speakers.
I have a set of polk MM6501's siting new in box that I really want to install. However I have no place to install them. These brackets may be the answer. However I have found hardly any feedback on these so I figured I would ask around here first to see if any of you have used them before.
Any help will be appreciated...

I usually make adapter plates like this out of masonite, it's thin and strong, and doesn't resonate the same as the plastic adapter plates (lower resonant frequency).

Either way thank you for bringing Masonite to my attention. I appreciate the info.

I bought a set of these once... sounded like crap. Tons of vibration in my particular instance. I went stupid overkill on mine... I used 3/4 plywood and mounted my speakers through the sail panels, so you can see them in the car. Yes most people would frown on this since I cut up some good sail panels, but I like people to see what I have installed. I also have a lot of blue leds in the car and plan on lighting up the speaker grills to match.

polk dbs sound good if they are properly powered, otherwise you wont do them justice.

I totally agree with you. I'm pushing them on a PA660.4 Polk amp. Make no mistake, they sound really nice for a 6x9. I mean really nice. But they just don't compare to a set of 6.5" components (to my ears anyways).

if you have subs to fill in the bass than i would agree, this is what i have in my dd. but if you dont want the weight, subs and additional amps and big box, as in my firebird the 6x9s fill in alot more low end than the 6.5 components.

You can get 1/4" mdf from Home Depot in 2' x 4' sheets for less than $8
I used this in the past on all my adapter plates, just trim it out and you can spray them with some flat black paint to make them blend in
My old trans am - 4" speaker and tweeter
