Power wire problems

I have an 88 camaro. I have tried many different ways to run my power wire. Yet to come up with a good plan. I am going to be running a 4 gauge wire does anyone have any suggestions on how to run it.

Hook it up directly to the batt. Put a fuse as close to the batt as you can and run it back to a fuse block in the back, then split the power wires off to your various components. Check further down on the message boad to hear some good ideas on how to route the wire from your engine compartment to the interior.

I am running 4 gauge power wire also. What I did was hook it directly to the battery (get a side post adapter and it will make your life much easier). My fuse is within 12" of the battery. From there I ran it along the inner fender and down through a hole in the fire wall. The hole was already there, so you may want to pull back some of the carpet in the passenger side footwell to see if you have one. Run it through there and just unscrew the plastic along the door jam and run it under the carpet to the very back for the amp. Good luck, it isn't that difficult.

I ran my 2AWG wire through the passenger side kick panel near the antenna. It is very easy to drill there and it makes it easy to run it under the hood right next to the stock wiring harness. Make sure where ever you choose to run it that you use a rubber grommet whenever it passes through metal. I went with a dual mount battery so that I could maintain the stock side mount terminals as well as use top mount terminals strictly for the stereo power and to run an auxilary ground wire. Once you come in through the firewall, it's a snap to run it under the door sill and to the back of the car. When running it under the door sill, lift the carpet a tad and you'll see a plastic track with wires in it. The power wire can tuck neatly underneath that track, and behind the seat belt mount. It will be totally out of harms way (from screws) and won't make a bulge in your carpet. The only moderately difficult part of the whole run is going from behind the front seat to the back. It makes life easier if you remove the screws holding that panel into place and pull it away from the sheet metal a bit. Then you can run it right up with the same wires that were in that plastic track that you tucked the power wire under at the door.

i have a 4 gauge wire too, for 2 amps. heres how i did mine, i have a my fuse about a foot from the batterey. the wire runs along the passenger side fender until it dips down towards thr ground. it reaches the interior thru a rather large hole. (i used some needle nose pliars to get it in the hole only becuase i kept squishing by hand trying to manueaver the wire with my hand. from there u will need to remove your passenger side kick panel (i think its like 2 screws, one long and one short). it comes thru there and then i ran it under neath the door jab. i removed the 4 or 5 screws holding the little black door jab that runs along the door. the wire fit snuggly under the carpet. if you are puttin the amps under the seat, you are already done. but i have mine in a amp rack behind the rear seats. so i removed the panel near the 6*9 plastic panel(i think its the panel that is right near the rear seat and is right below the 6*9 panel). from there it runs thru and comes out in a hole for the amp rack. if you have your amps in the cargo bin, just keep runnin the wire thru the plastic interior peices.

hope this helps

daniel
