Time to buy an amp!!

Ok, right now i am running 2 12 inch Fosgate Punch Subs off of my Pioneer 35x4 stereo. I am getting ready to get an amp and i really don't know what the best kind of amp would be. I have heard many different things about many different amps. I want it to hit pretty hard, but still be somewhat reasonable in price. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There are a million and one good amps out there. Basically you want to be able to distinguish between the good stuff and the junk. Price is usually a good indication. Go to a shop and notice that a 50 watt Kicker or Rockford amp is about the same price as a 200 watt amp from other brands. The 50 watt Kicker or Rockford will be the better choice. Other amps of similar quality are PPI, Xtant, Zapco, and a bunch of others. Personally I'm a Kicker fan. A ZR240 will hammer and won't break the bank (~$350 with crossover)

PPIs are awesome but may be a bit priecy. I would recommend either Xtant, Kicker, Alpine, or the Eclipse I have.

The Eclipse 33230 is rated 130x2 at 4 ohm, 200x2 at 2 ohm, or 400x1 at 4 ohm bridged. I have heard this amp with 2 Boston Pro 12s running at 2 ohm, and it sounded great! And at 2 ohm, its stable, and does not produce a lot of heat. It retails for $369.

Jim's right...pay attention to quality over power, and you'll be on the right track.

whenever i make an amp purchase i like to look for proof over how much power the amp makes at various voltages. I believe rockford prints out stats on how much power the amp makes as does PPI and soundstream. these are just a few of the higher end audio corps that make amps that you can trust. there is no amp that anyone can tell you is the best cuz everyone has differnet tastes. however, since you already have Rockford subs, it makes sense to stay in the family and buy a rockford amp. are your subs the Punch brand (rated at like 200rms and 400 max) or are they the RF kinds (100rms and 200 max) it depends on the sub what amp will bring you the most performance. im not familiar with the new RF model numbers but any amp rated at 75 watts a channel will do fine on either sub. if you can give me the model number and the impedence (ohms 4 or 8) then i can probably help pick out a good RF amp, or you can simply go down to your local audio retailer and ask what they recommend.

86 camaro cpe(dont laugh)has 92z28 body kit with GTS covers, new red paint and a killer stereo. 2 amps, 8 speakers, disc changer, custom install with subs coming by the end of the summer. sawpped (or in the process of) 305lg4 for brand new 350. TES headers, flowmaster cat back, performer manifold, TCI converter, jet chip, kn with dual snorkel cleaner. and she still passed the sniffer!
