component speakers

changed my mind boston acoustic is the best way to go, i'd rather spend the extra money to get a quality setup, but i'd like some opinion on the setup i'm thinking of getting right now, here goes:

1. DEHP7300 Pioneer faceplate any suggestions on it?
2. Boston acoustic 4x6 or should i just get a boston acoustic pro rally component speakers?
3. either boston acoustic 6x9 or infinity kappa (3-way definately!)
4. amp? what is a good amp? kicker, eclipse, alpine? and what kind of power should i be looking for?
5. After all that is done if i have some money left, definately subs, but that's done the road, way way way down the road.

Then why don't you look into components in kick panels? If you do go for components, also look into CDT Audio...great speakers for the price.

1. Good choice, although I'd go with Alpine
2. Definatly the Pro's. Components in kicks will sound 10x better than the 4x6's for many reasons
3. Whatever you do do not use two differant speakers. Another thing who needs rear speakers?
4. I like Memphis!
5. Make sure you get speakers with a strong midbass if that is the case.

Also I like the CDT idea. I'm pickin' up some Classics components for my '84 Z. My plan is to get into SQ comp. eventually. The CDT's are the first step. Plus if you hurry CDT is giving free rear fill with any classic Comp. set 'til 2002.

Yep go with the kicks you won't regret it! Considering the price of the 4x6's or Rallies + the price of 6x9's you could spend the money and buy Mike's Kicks and a good set of 6 1/2 components. Once you have the kicks you don't need the 4x6's and/or 6x9's and the money you saved will buy you a really good Comp. Set. I don't care for Pioneer so I'd say go Alpine or Kenwood. I have a Kenwood Excelon 615 now but I'm wanting to go to Alpine. As for the amp go Alpine.

1. I actually prefer the 6300 to the 7300. I really like the Pioneer head units.
2. Either the Rally or Pro series components will blow you away.
3. You don't have to get the 6x9s, but if you want rear fill, go with Boston Acoutics.
4. Kicker, Memphis, Soundstream, PPI, Phoenix Gold all make good amps. As far as power, get something that can provide more than the rms your speakers can handle, so you don't have to crank the gains as much. That will help give you a cleaner signal and prevent you from doing what so many people do. Not have enough power to drive their speakers, so they crank the gain all the way up and bring lost of nasty distortion in and kill the speakers.
5. As for subs, check out www.audiomobile.com and the Mass 12. It's an amazing speaker and reasonably priced. You can only get it online.

Make sure you go listen to some before buying though. CDT's are very accurate (in top 3 of IASCA this year for SQ) and very musical speakers. The thing I like best about them is that the tweeters dip down so low it allows a fawless transition between mid and tweet. Awesome x-overs too. But I'm not trying to sell 'em so I'm done.

I think the biggest question is how much do you plan on spending on your system? There are plenty of good companies with good equipment, but they all have their price ranges. however, i do agree that components are 100x better than 4x6s and that you should try to match your front and rears if possible (staying with in same brand, series, etc.). by having two different brands of speakers (one brand in front, one in back), you will have two different responses to the same sound (ie. your front speakers by Infinity may have more highs while your bostons in the back may have more mid, etc.). if you have the option, get the coax version of your comps, like getting inifinity kappa comps up front and kappa coax in the back. hoep that came out sounding right....
