Vented or ported is like asking if you have an engine or a motor. Same thing dude.
Depends on which subs you're going to be running. Usually the manufacturer has a suggested box type and, if you're lucky, even has the performance specs of their sub in various box configurations.
Generally speaking though, sealed enclosures are much smaller, easier to build, more forgiving if box volume is slightly off, and provide more sound quality.
Vented/ported enclosures attempt to maximize the SPL (loudness) of the sub. They usually require a larger enclosure size and can be finicky to tune properly. Remember, a port is not just a hole with a tube, it has to be a precise diameter and length in order to perform well. However, when it's done right a vented enclosure can sound very good and does put out more volume at equal power levels compared to sealed boxes.
Hope this helps.

Actually, after looking at your original post again, it looks like a sealed box may be your only option. Two twelves in a ported box will most likely be very difficult to fit in your trunk well. So, if you're dead set on two 12's, then look for pair that is optimized for sealed enclosures. Also, using a dual chambered box would be ideal for this configuration.
