What sub should I get.
I can get a 2x400 watt Legacy amp pretty cheap so now I need some subs. I want something that will hit hard and loud, but won't cost a lot of money. Im looking at one 10 or one 12 and I dont have a lot of money to throw into it. Any suggestions?

i go with a 12, if u have at least $120 to spend on a sub, get a JL Audio 12W0, thats wut i have and its louder than some systems with 2 12s, i have about 200w rms goin to it, but also tell me how much money u have to spend on it and i could recommend somethin different/better peace out

sub
if your on a cheap budget theres always reactors, i have a 10 in my car powered by a cheap 75 watt pyramid amp, and it sounds excellent and it only cost me under $60, i am so satisfied with it i am going to get a bigger legacy amp, and 2 reactor 12's (a reactor 12 is under $40 at most places) check them out at http://www.cardiscountstereos.com/Su...ub_Catagory=CC , summit racing has them even cheaper, but there not at there website, or in their catalog. if you have 110 to spend you could go with the 2 for one deal on explods at crutchfield
for a good sub at a good price...try the MTX thunder 6000 series or the MTX thunder 8000 series if its in your budget. I got 2 10inch 6000's and they pound pretty hard off only a Rockford Fosgate 200watt 4 channel amp.

Thanks guys. I listened to a 10JLW0-4 yesterday. Would a 2x800 watt amp be too much for the 12JLW0?. It's 250 watt rms right?
The 10 sounded real nice. Im just trying to get something that will provide some bottom end but still pound hard when I want it too. Im trying to spend around $175 at the most for both the amp and sub, and the cheaper the better. Being broke in highschool sucks.

For a Sub I would suggest the Kenwood KFC-W3003. I know someone that has a pair of these, they're cheap and very good subs. I found them on ebay for as little as $45.00 each. You can read reviews for it here:http://www.sounddomain.com/shop/revi...ku=KENKFCW3003 As you can see for a cheap sub it works very well.
That still leaves you $130.00 for the amp. I would go with prob. the Kenwood KAC-529s a 250watts peak 2-channel amp. Which I also found on ebay for $88.00. Here's the http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=1313345106 By going with a 2-channel amp that leaves you the option of using it as a mids/highs amp later down the road whenever you can afford a new sub amp. That still leaves you some money for your Power and Ground cables, Speaker Wires, Patch Cable, and etc. And you should still have some money left.

i drove two JL 12W0s for about a year on 400w rms, they can handle more power than rated but not for more than 8 hours or somethin, i would get an amp that puts out like 300w rms mono, since ur only gonna have one sub

for that kind of budget i would go with reactors (12's) and a 1000 watt legacy amp, from cardisxountsterio.com you can get the 12" reactors for $35 a piece and a legacy 1000 watt max, bridged amp for $90which adds up to $160 +shipping thats probably what im gonna go with mine as i said above a have a reactor 10 in my car right now and it sounds great.
