Breaking in a subwoofer

hey guys I just got my infinity sub and read that I should break it in for at least 20 hours by playing it at low volume. what do they mean by low volume and do I really need to break it in for 20 hours? thanks for the time

Never have I heard about breaking in a subwoofer, but then again .... maybe they want the rubber surrounds to flex a bit before you crank it up.

ok I got the lowdown on breaking in a sub from several people who do it all the time. they said that it isn't gonna perform the best untill you get everything loosened up(by playing it 20 hours or so) and they all said you can play it at normal volume to break it in also. just thought I'd let everybody know

i jus bought my sub at circuit city when it was on sale.. and i asked the guy if there was a warranty thing incase i blew it up.. cost me an extra 15 bux i think and its good for bout 5 years...

so i dont worry bout any break in period... and if i blow it ill jus get a new one ... no questions asked...

but i do agree that most speakers sound theyre best when broken in a bit... like after a week or two of being played...

That' s also what the Owners Manual says when you buy a new car They're just trying to cover their backsides. Notice how the E.T.'s increase in a new car after you get a few miles on it? Same thing.
