Cd Player now skips!

Since I got my new subs, (2 12' Kicker CompVR's) my cd player now skips! It starts to skip about 2/3 way up on the volume, but the amp is only turned up about half way!

Also what is the best way to get rid of rattles. Is there anyother choice than ripping up the whole carpet?

What kind of CD player do you have and how old? The cheaper ones tend to skip more. Good ones also start skipping as they get older.

Plans for an LT-1 or LT-4,
also plans for dual flowmaster exaust.

Got a corvette when i was 16, paid for it myself, screwed the engine up (idiot light didnt work, and i trusted the guy when he said he just changed the oil), and it turned into a project car.
now my TA is my daily driver. not a bad one, but it needs to be faster.

85ws6TA, thanks for the answer. I talked to a local shop today and they said the same thing. Oh Well!! Looks like now I have a reason to get a new deck!

What do everyone recommend for a head unit for under $400?

Dont go **** money away into another deck. I have a Kenwood eXcelon KDC-X811 ('99 model) and it worked flawlessly until October '00. I bought it at Tweeter, and its by no means a "cheap" deck in quality or in price. For $40 I got their extended service plan and I just took it in for a cleaning and laser alignment. I'm hoping all will be good afterwards. Many electronic stores will align lasers.

Jason M 91Z, NOOOOOO,, I want a new deck! I knew I needed a new one anyway. This one is only a 30 X 4 Channel, and is probably 3-4 years old. It was on the car when I bought it.

Does anyone have any input on those decks that have those "visiual displays"?

Under $400, I would strongly recommend the Pioneer DEH-7200. It is 45x4 with supertunerIII and built in active HP and LP filters. There is remote sub control with the crossovers right there. The eq is very good and if you hold the function key, it gets downright extensive. As for the visual bit u mentioned, I has a small LCD with two seperate screen savers. After installation and proper setup this made the most difference in the sound of the system, plus the internal amp is 22Wrmsx4....remember that, dual RCA pre-outs and aux in. I love this thing. One thing to think about also, the new lines for next year are coming out in a month or so. I work at Best Buy and if you go, you can prob get a good discount off te remaining instore merchandice. Hope this helps...

The license plate rattle is easy to fix. You can either put a strip of rubber across the top where it rests or do like I did and cover the back of it with Dynamat. Since I did that, I haven't had to listen to that damn rattle anymore.
