Remote turn on wire, how many on one wire?

I'm rewiring all of my system (doing it right this time) with high quality wire etc. and I have 3 amps and 1 electronic crossover. Can I wire all of the remote turn on leads together to the single deck wire without straining the deck? Or would adding a relay to power them be a better idea? Thanks!

The answer to that question is maybe, but I wouldnt do it. I am a former a car audio installer of 3 years and your question is very commonly asked. The average amperage output that the internal relay inside your head unit that controls the amp turn on/off is about .5 amps. This is fine for turning on 2 to 3 devices.

Since I have myself have damaged a brand new Kenwood CD player wiring 2 amps, x-over, Para-eq. Granted that was 6 years ago and CD decks are probably made a lot better now and if the deck is a high end model, it probably has a beefier relay built in for multiple amps. But its better to be safe than sorry.

I would install a Bosch relay. You can get them at Radio Shack for $4.00.

Most manuals will list the max amps out for the rem. wire. Test each component you want to use with a DMM and measure the current draw. Add up all the amps and if it close to or above specs, you'll have to relay it.

I have an active cross over and two amps and I think that I should add a relay. It would be for the best.
