what does EVERYONE think of..
what does EVERYONE think of..
i was wondering what everyone thought of two 8"s?? I got two 8" JBL Power GT series in a box for $100 off a friend. I took them becuase its the only box that fits down into the trunk well. I have a Clarion 4 channel running them and my 6x9s...
So anyway.. what does everyone think? too weak? just right?? i know it aint to powerful i aint even askin!
now i know what your thinkin. "it all depends on what music you listen too" welllll.. i listen to everything, mainly rap.. but also Metallica and even some country.
please gimme some feedback!

I think that will be okay depending on the amp you get. I personally love tubes with a 10" in there.

Current: mostly stock - newer 305 w/ 12,000 on it
Eclipse speakers all around w/ 10" tube powered by a Alpine V12 in back
K&N filter w/XStream flow lid - It is sweet!!
Future: 2" Cowl hood

My Clarion 400w is powering the subs and the 6x9s. Its a great amp, thundering bass, and crisp highs.. i traded that for a Power Acoustiks 680w x 2channel, and the clarion hits just the same and is only pushin 100w to each channel. that tells me Power Acoustiks is lying damnit..

I'm losing it. I've never seen this thread!!
I think 8"s are GREAT!!! I had a single JBL tube in my elcamino for years, and I loved it. Then I got some 10"s and I loved them even better. But I had a friend that in his (sorry for useing the "M" word, but) mustang, (yuck!!) but they were being run off of a Rockford 6 channel amp. And they punched like a hammer. I liked them so much, I put some in a friends station wagon a few months later.
One more thing, if you like the way they sound, then X marks the spot.

yea i like the way they sound, but then again this is my first car, my first system, and the first time ever wondering what others thought.
I do know they hit pretty hard, cuz friends at school say they hear it, and a teacher said she'll write me up next time a 'rattle' her windows.
I guess i just have to start using different subs and see which ones i like best?
anybody else?

If you add a 15, you'll have the best of both worlds. Then all of the teachers at your school will write you up!!

first system, 2 8's, 400 watts your in good shape. i had 2 kicker 8's in my camaro at first and i got looks. the best way to tell when you got a system is when you can get people to turn and look then you are being noticed! i now use one MTX thunder 10" sub in an bandpass and that hits real hard! 2 8's will do the car good.

My first system in my TA was 2 JBL 8's and I loved the way it sounded, not too mention it fit deep in the well. Currently I run 3 8's in my Grand Prix. Not as boomy or hard as a 10 or 12 of course, but sounds very good to me. Gives just enough bass to know they're there without being overbearing.

well its no earthquaker, but i barely spent any money at all. Like i said, i got the subs for $100, cables were $25, CD changer was a birthday present, Blaupunkt 5x7s came outta my brothers cougar XR7 when he totalled it and i stole the amp from some ******* kid i hate from my school (you dont understand, this kid is a *****!)
Im no mathmatician but that totals up to $125. I got the stock Berlinetta Swivel radio as a head unit which is doing its job for now. Everything fits in the trunk well and everything is lockable for supreme security. cant beat that for $125
anybody else??
