Subs or Bazooka Tube!!!!!!!

Ok here is the deal. I have two 10" 350 W piooner subs wating to be installed into a custom made box. However, I have been reading other posts and doing some research and I am starting to like this 400W duel 10" driver bazooka tube. i already have an amp. I want to know what will sound better? I am not going for ghetto thumping sound but just real powerful bass for hard rock and some rap (very little but on the occation). I like the tube because it is made to sound good in hatchbacks and it is LIGHTWIEGHT! A custom box is heavy and clumsy. I have heard that these new tubes can sound better (in a camaro) than some rockford systems. I find that hard to belive but because of the wierd shape of our hatch I would not be surprised. I know the tube might give some in power but its practicality seems better. Also, if the box isn't built just right I am afraid it won't sound good. I am very confused and i would love to hear from you stereo masters who have experience in both TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!!!!!!!!!

I loved it when i had my 12" tube in dat hole in da back of da car. Granted it was only for 2 weeks till i blew da speaker.. but it was a ****ty generic one anyways. I think it sounds good, easy to take out incase u need a lil more room, and defenitly easier to hide as opposed to the box idea where people can see when they walk by

Tubes arent too expensive to try it out. Defenitly give it a try first.

whats with all the posts about Bazooka's????

anyway, like mole said.. i would definately give it a try because the bazookas definately do bump in our hatchbacks.

This is probably like the 100th time ive said this, but my brother had one 10" bazooka in his Merc. Cougar.. and the thing pounded..(in the trunk)

If you aready have the subs, I would just probibly build a box for them. If not, I would definately go with the tubes. You need no make sure that the tubes aren't the kind that have the amp inside. The internal amps are cheepo. Look into Kicker tubes and compair. I guarentee that two tubes would blow two subs out of the water in our hatches.
laters, I am the one who went with a 10" Bazooka instead of my 10" Fosgate. There really was a big difference, especally in frewuency responce.

Thx a lot guys. I already have the subs but I might sell them. The tube I was looking at has two 10" subs in them (it is the new competition tube that crutchfield advertises). It is not self amplified and I have a 280 W amp (sony..I know it sucks but I got a great deal on it) to power it. I use to have a self amplified tube and it sucked big time but it was old and like a single driver at 200W. The tube I am looking at can handle 500W max and has a fec respnose of 39-1k Hz. I think I will go with the tube because the subs I bought say they need 1.5 cubic feet each. I am a mechanical engineering student and I have tried very hard to make a box for our cars that meets those specs. Pretty much whatever box I make won't sound that good.
