Opinions on this setup....

I already have the speakers and the head unit, amp and sub are on order.

-Eclipse CD head unit
-Boston 4x6 plate fronts, Boston RX 6x9 rears
-Xtant 403a (100x2 with provisions for 4 speakers, and 200x1 sub channel)
-Eclipse Aluminum 10"

I'm getting the Aluminum for $180 from $380, the Xtant for $449 from $700, I've had the speakers for about 6 months, and the head unit will be about $240 from $340. Opinions??

Generic? That's all high end stuff! That eclipe deck is much better than most Pioneer offerings, and I'd take xtant amps over Rockford any time. I'm also a huge Boston fan and have been using the same pair of 746 plates for nearly 7 years. I believe that Boston has discontinued those plates, so if you're planning on buying them, do it soon. We have 1 pair left at work and I'll probably snag them for my GTA.

I've heard of Kove, but not that specific line. I've also heard of Cerwin Vega Strokers. They are some pretty amazing subs.

at comps and stuff, a Kove Arm 12' with 1000 RMS goin to it, hits around 155 DB's, and the Stroker, from what my friend says, and the picture of the wall in his car, he had 1 15' Stroker maxed out, and it pounded unbelievably hard, they guy said he would be insane to put more than one 15' in his wall...

I'm pretty impressed with my setup, this summer im taking out the backseats and building a wall, putting my 4 15' Rockford Fosgate Punch XLC's in there, each 2 ran by a Fosgate 800a2...its gonna be sweet, the 2 already slam as it is...heh

You're saying you hit 155 with a single 12"?

what model eclipse deck? i have the 5303r in my car, sounds great. looks like u got some good deals on the equipment. i have never heard an eclipse aluminum in a camaro before.

and in response to the poineer shot made by jim, poineer premeir used to come up with some really well-built, quality decks. one of my friends had one of those old premier decks(like 98 or 99)and it was the best looking(graphics and controls)and cleanest sound ive ever heard. although eclipse IMO is tops, poineer makes some great stuff too.

if that car is a 78-82 corvette, or a geo/chevy metro, i believe it. other wise im doubtin it. or mabey one of those SmartCars but they suck anyway. about doing 4 15"s (i dont care what kind so this isnt another "I hate RF post") i think you oughtta consider 4 12"s. that what Mike Harvey did and he wouldnt shutup about it i guess it made his clarion deck skip when the bass hit and everything. and the reason i say 12s over 15s is because then you can still have some sound quality. 12s reproduce a sine wave better than a 15 because there is less cone to move, making it lighter and more responsive. aka accurate. doing 6 10s wouldnt be too bad either, and you still got alot of overkill with that. would have the same ammount of cone space as 4 15's and be way more accurate. but i assume you are totally dis regarding this seeing as how you already have 2 of the 15s.

i like 15's the best, my friend had a pair of kicker 8's, just not enough punch for me, i had some 10's, but my 12's sounded a little bit louder and harder i thought, so i stuck with 12's over 8's and 10's...after i got rid of my 12's, and got my 15's, i love them, its like having my 12's, but its a little louder, and feels lower, and the punch feels a little bit nicer...

i dont think you would have to worry about volume or punch with 6 properly amped 10s. i think that could pretty easily hit into 160s. and the would actually hit better than the 15s because they arent as sloppy. they are alot tighter and therefore would hit harder.

The theory behind doing a 10" is that I can mount it in the base of the well, and have it fire up at the hatch. Should give proper loading....a 10" will be easier to face that way IMO.

Second, I'm getting the 10" used (like only 3 months used) off my buddy for $180...it lists for $370. He gets major deals because he's a car stereo manager anyways.

And anyone who says Xtant is generic crap needs their head examined...or needs to walk into a decent car audio outlet

I can't wait to hear this system!! Oh yeah, I had the 5341R...I'm letting it go with the RS when its sold. Can anyone recommend a new Eclipse head unit they like??

First off I cant believe that he has not heard of any of it. I would have atleast thought everyone has heard of Boston Acoustics.
And 15"s are soo ghetto, just for people that have to have them because they think bigger means louder.
I personally would not go any bigger then 10
You get awsome bass, less space, and face it
you do all this work on your car to make it faster then put a 200lb system in it.

As for the question on here. I have not heard one in a F car but have heard a single Eclipse Alum 10 in an explorer and there are not words that can describe it. It made his Eclipse 7002 head unit move and the screen shake. He did not tell me what it was till he showed me, my jaw litterally dropped when I saw one 10. Go for it, sounds like an awsome setup.
