box volume problem

I seriously want to get a set of Boston Pro Series 10's for my car, problem is the box that i have right now is .75 cu feet and they call for .5 cu feet....is there anything i can do besides hack up my box to put these subs in????

You could try adding 2x4s inside the box to take up the extra space.

Axle/Gears: 3.42 / ?
.75 will be fine for those subs. Getting a little bigger will give better low frequency response.

if it is an enclosed box you can use packing foam.. and it helps alot

PolyFiber Fill.
Or fiberglass isulation. Line the inside of the box and you will be fine

Poly fill fools the sub into thinking it's in a LARGER enclosure, not smaller. Plus, the effectiveness of poly fill is debatable but the general consensus among knowledgable installers is that although poly fill does produce measurable differences in the T/S parameters, they are too minor to be audible.

Depends on the density of the foam. The problem with foam is that it may exhibit different characteristics at different pressures, which could potentially result in some fugly situations. In general, I'd assume it would do too little to be audible, just like poly-fill. I'd try the box as-is first, and if you find the bass to be a bit too thin, you can always screw some 2x4s in there to take up space.
