12" hx2 and American pro bass machine
I am getting a 12" RF hx2 today and I already have an American Pro Bass Machine
model # VS1820 It puts out 800w at 2 ohms
I am told that this amp is a comp amp and only works at 2 ohms. How many ohms is the hx2 and how can I bring it down to 2 or real close to 2.
The best I can rember the sub is 2.10x2 ohms
So that is like 4 ohms right? Is it possible to bring one sub down to 2ohms.
Please help me b/c I am going to hook it up tonight and I REALLY don't wanna blow anything.
Please help,
Joey

Acccording to the American Pro web-site the V.S. 1830 is rated at 120w x2 @ 4 ohms or 175w x2 @ 2 ohms or 350w x1 bridged mono @ (?) ohms. The 800w rating is a meaningless "peak-power" rating that they somehow came up with (ignore peak power ratings because they are just marketing ploys).
Anyway ... the amp should be stable a 4 ohms, so you don't need a 2 ohm load, and you shouldn't worry about hurting the amp with a 4 ohm load. Connect your sub by bridging the amp for a 4 ohm load.
Also ... there is no way to make a SVC 4 ohm sub be a 2 ohm load. You can add another sub and wire them in parallel. Or you could have a DVC sub with 4 ohm coils and wire the coils in parallel.
