Help with replacement head unit - wiring harness connector

Hi all,

Hoping someone here can help. I have a 91 GTA and looking to replace my stock head unit for another stockish looking unit. I’ve found one from an Oldsmobile, I believe. The main connection at the back is the same, however this other unit seems to have an additional, small connector. I think this might be for the steering wheel controls. Does anyone know if this unit would work in my car (except for steering controls since I don’t have them)? I’ve attached a pic of the back of the potential unit - the area in green is the same as my original unit, the red one is what I don’t have. I obviously don’t care about steering wheel controls as my car doesn’t have them, I just want the head unit to work.

If it will work, do I need to be concerned with unlocking the new unit? The radio doesn’t seem to say “Delco Loc” anywhere on the front so does that mean it won’t have a lock code?

Thanks

looking

Hmmm...I'm not sure. I don't have steering wheel controls on my car. When I upgraded my '88 from an AM/FM Cassette to an '89 AM/FM/CD unit, there was a small connector like that. I want to say it was for the UQ7 "Performance Sound" subwoofer amplifier. But it's been some years...I may be mistaken.

What's the front of the radio look like? If it's a cassette head unit, it could be to control a CD changer.

No need to worry about that plug,....... there is no plug on the Third Gen dash harness that will connect to it.

** It's not the GTA steering wheel control plug; The GTA SWC plug is a 2-wire plug.
