what would happen if two subs were in one chamber?
I am almost done making my first box. I just need to make a divider for the two subs. But it would save me alot of work and time if i didn't have to make the divider and put it in. Is there any big negatives that come with having the two subs not seperated? Both subs are the same (Infinity Perfect 12.1) and are both getting the same amount of power (300 watts). Any ideas on what I should do?
its not going to sound as good as if it was divided. if the subs share the same enclosure space they will both hit at the same time. the advantage to having it divided is one sub can hold a low note while the other one hits the beat. you have to hear it to know what im talking about. it also depends on what kinda music you listen to, but if you want the best sound I would divide up the enclosure.

very important that if you run two subs in a single chamber, they need to be the same signal (mono). do not run subs in stereo if they share space. you can cause problems because you've got two different signals trying to move the same air. imagine one sub pushing in while the other is trying to go back and forth. you can cause the subs to blow. there is really no need to run subs in stereo because the human ear cannot detect the direction of bass. best bet is to just wire em up in mono and you'll be fine.
yep, just like CAMp3RO, said .... if you ever revered the wires on a single chamber, you'll notice that the subs wont hit, but youll just hear the bass notes cause its not creating the vacuum is needs to hit.

Just to build on top of what CAMp3RO said, another advantage to using a single chamber is that with a goofy box shape like we need in our cars, it's REAL hard to get both chambers to be of equal size, and if they're not equal, they won't sound the same. When you have 2 different sounding subs you get a "combing" effect which basically kills any chances of a flat frequency response. If you do go with just a single chamber, at least install some cross braces to minimize vibrations in the box. The best part of the divider is that it makes the box MUCH more rigid. When I build my boxes, I usually build it with a divider, then I drill holes in the divider. It becomes a shared chamber, but with the rigidity of a box with a divider.

How about three twelves and an amp rack
This picture was taking at night. I have three twelves in three separate chambers, however all three subs are bridged in mono...the amp rack houses two phoenix gold amps.
Okay...lets try this again
Ta daaa.......
As for your question...if you are going to use two subs in one chamber...make sure to check what the specs call for air space for each sub. Now if your subs are free air, then it doesnt matter if you use one chamber because it doesnt need much air to generate BASS, however, like 88 Camaro SC said, make sure its bridged mono.
