Microphone mounted in cigarette lighter socket.

Raided the parts bin at work and cobbled this together with a cable gland and soffit vent. 100% reversible. Just had to slightly sand down the threads of the cable gland to fit in the hole.

That's cool. Won't work with a Firebird since it would be too far away...

Yup. Quality isn’t great, but as loud as the interior is, it’s not much worse than when I had it on the visor.

Whats that mic for normally? Its a good size. I put mine in the rear veiw mirror. Seems to work fine, relatively speaking.

It’s the mic that came with the stereo. From an Alpine unit but looks exactly the same as the one in my old Pioneer.

Cool, wonder why they got so big. Certainly makes it hard to find a spot for it. Mine is puny though.

I use an iSimple bluetooth FM modulator for hands free calling in both my TA verts, and the Mike is mounted at the top of the driver's A pillar. Even top down, I can easily carry on a conversation.

Re: Microphone mounted in cigarette lighter socket.

Any idea what size the cable gland and vent were? Hoping to replicate this myself, thanks!

Vent from Amazon. 0.8”:

Can’t remember the gland size exactly. I just tested a few at work until I found one that fit. I think it was an NPT 3/4”
