So when I bought my Camaro, only the rear driver side speaker worked, now I replaced the front speakers with some Sony, but only the front driver side worked and the front passenger is extremely faint? Also bought 6.5 sonys and replaced the rear passenger side but it also had the same problem of being too faint? Even reversed the wires to be sure and still to faint as well? Anyone know what this could be, not really an electrical expert

Re: Non working speakers
I feel silly writing this but just in case.

Any chance the head unit fade adjustment has been pulled to the left side?

Most obvious and an easy check to boot.

Re: Non working speakers
Looks like there were two different setups. One with an amplifier and one without. Assuming everything’s stock?

I would start by looking up your RPO codes in the center console to see what style of radio sound system you have. Depending on the type I would review the attached wiring diagrams and go from there.

The radio needs to be rebuilt. The capacitors are bad.

Yeah I kinda figured it had to be the head unit, since my wires were getting about 0.4-1 ohms through on each non working speaker, so pretty sure the head units the only possible thing

Yep, head unit. Been through 2, have one of John's rebuilt's in there now and happened to find another unit in a junkyard that had a stamp on it claiming it was rebuilt by some other company in 2021 or something haha.

The other company might have been M&R Electronics Inc.

Re: Non working speakers
FYI: If you installed 4 aftermarket speakers and they are all 4 OHM speakers,... you might end up harming ANY Factory Delco radio that you install. Four 4 OHM speakers can/DO kill factory radios by burning out the amplifier chips inside the factory radio. You can use 4 OHM 6x9's; but you SHOULD use 10 OHM 4x6's under the dash.

The "weak" speaker output is almost certainly a failed capacitor(s) problem. Usually when a AMP chip gets fried there is NO output on that speaker channel. If your still dealing with this radio problem and need additional insight just post back here or send me a PM.
