Good Amp?

I have two MTX 4000 10"s in a sealed box in the hatch. As, of now I am running it off of a single pyramid 300W amp.It sounds good, but I want to get a new amp. Can you give me a price range, amp brand (I personally like Kicker but to expensive) and wattage that would work well with my combo. Thanx.

HAHAHAHA Pyramid is the HONDA of Car Audio.
Ive got a Rockford Fosgate 360a2 powering a pair of 12" MTX Thunder 5000s.
They get 125 real-world watts a piece, RMS

Pyramid 300w = 150 actual watts, max = 75 watts RMS into 2 channels = 37.5 watts RMS of static.

I hope you didn't blow the MTX's with too much distortion..!

Check out http://www.crutchfield.com - their prices are a bit higher than you could dig up locally, but you can do a 4-month pay plan.

If you still like the Kicker name, just get the Kicker Impulse IX2302 or IX1302. Plenty of power.Plus they have added features like built in EQ, crossovers and can be used with RCA inputs or speaker level inputs.Nice clean amps, just not as pricey as the ZR line.

I would suggest the JL Audio 300/2
the thing that makes these amps nice is that they deliver the stated watts at whatever ohm load you have on the amp, i.e no matter how many or how it's wired, they still make 300+ watts.
they also have fantastic crossover systems built in... go to you local dealer and check one out... more $$$ but better functionality

One Eye Jack,
Saying that they are the Honda of Car Audio would assume that thy are reliable and efficient, and Pyramid is neither one of those.

I would recommend a nice 300-400 watt amp from Audiobahn. They put out a lot of bang for the buck. The rockford wouldn't be a bad choice, but I think you are really buying a name anymore. Just a little pricey for what you get IMHO. You would be looking at anywhere from 200-300 dollar range for what you need.
