Yeah, it'll fit just fine. It's always easy to make a small speaker fit in a big hole... you just need to make an adapter.
In general, it's possible to get higher quality components than 6x9s, so as long as you buy a good set, you should be able to get much better sound. That being said, I'd put that money into the front stage before I spent it on the back though. If you've already got good stuff up front, then get the same stuff for the back. That'll give you good uniformity.

well 6 x 5s are differnt shape from 6 x 9s the 6 x 9 are usally louder than and has usally better sound quality if you need any advise on what speakers to get just let me know but the 6 X 5s will fit it will just look ghetto your best bet is to stick with what ever the size of the speaker hole that is there

I basically agree, but I know the reasoning behind it.
In general, 6.5" components sound better than 6x9s. Why?
2 basic reasons.
1: round cones have a more equal stress distribution. Oval cones have unique stresses that they need to deal with. This means that either the cone is going to produce more distortion because of flex, or it's going to be extremely stiff, which makes it heavy, which limits upper frequency bandwidth.
2: Economics. Generally, you don't find high-quality 6x9s compared to what's available in a 6.5" component system. You have much greater options with components, so you can find better sounding stuff.
But, if you compare a 6.5" coax to an otherwise identical 6x9 coax, you may find that you like the sound of the 6x9 better. When comparing two otherwise identical speakers, you'll usually find that the 6x9 has substantially more bass output because of its larger size and mass, but at the expense of vocal clarity. As with anything, this isn't always the case, but more often than not, that's what you'll find.

Kj Rockz .. that was awesome! LOL
First off, just like Jim said, the natural round shape of a speaker will sound a heck of a lot better than the oval. Take calc, study wave patters, cone excursion and polygons and it makes sense.
second, It WONT look "ghetto" because its gonna be covered by the sail panel fabric anyways! I think its awesome. My buddy did it to a RS using a road sign around the corner as the adapter.
were not trying to knock on ya man, but what you said has some bad arguments. Besides, its more fun and enjoyable to create a non-stock object for your car that people can see and go ... "WOAH!"
