Radio Reception (you've got to read this)

OK, has anyone ever run into this problem?

I have a Pioneer DEH P4000 CD receiver head unit, (using the factory wiring harness) along with the equipment listed in my sig. The head unit has excellent FM reception, (some stations 50 miles away or better) that is until I take the T-Top panels off.

With the tops off I have trouble picking up stations 20 miles away.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem? Or is it just life kicking me in the ***** again? Either way when I put the car away for the winter I'll tear into the wiring, and play around with grounds and such.

I've got a clarion deck w/factory harness and haven't had that problem.

I know it's a very slim chance, but maybe the way you store your T-tops is somehow the problem?

Just for curiousity's sake, trying leaving the tops at home one day and see if that makes any difference.

I can be standing next to the car with the top in my hands and the reception starts going south.

And since they are mostly not metal, that is weird...Does day or night make a difference?

Neither time of day nor weather conditions (sunny or overcast, no I haven't pulled the tops off in the rain ) seem to make any difference.

I haven't really gotten in depth into solving this problem, just wondered if anyone else had encountered it.

Well, this is definately the strangest problem I've ever heard of!
