Is it the speakers them selve or is it the metal plates behind them.. The metal plates rattled in mine.. What I did was take them out... went to wal mart got some black fabric ... spent about 3$ all together.. Then I got the fabric.. double layered it(JUST IN CASE) Then had some adhesive spay.. spayed the two layers together, let it dry a lil then sprayed it more and put it on the metal plate.. screwed in the speakers and the screwed the plates into the car.... My car was already torn down becuase I was putting in new carpet but you should be able to find a way to get around it......
you could also use Dyno mat .. i hear is good.. but i was going for most inexpensive ... I have heard NO rattles since...
Hope that helps...

Sounds good... Just a question.. how durable is the foam.. I've seen it break away when it dries up.. Just a thought,, Thats why I used cloth...
Kinda why I bought rubber around the speakers(subs) instead of foam..
But thats a long term(10 years) thought.. Just soem input..

the card board can compress over time and you have the same prob. Use the foam rubber pad stuff and you will not have a prob for 20 plus years... Thats what I am using now...been there for 3 years and no probs. Took out metal retainer/plate outlined on the foam cut to size and done for 6 bucks...

alllllllllll hell, afro engineering it , no offence to any african americans. It is just a few bucks, at least you know it will last that long. Kind of like winching logs up a hill, get a chain and cable stronger that will hold more then the winch can, that way the winch is the weak link and not the chain/cable.
When I pulled the metal plate off I found a foam baffle behind the speaker. It was held together with staples that vibrated against the sheet metal when the bass hit. Pulled that sumb*tch out and put some dynomat behind the plate and under the plate. Worked like a charm.

haha, c'mon buddy. Who the hell else would name me Kevin? my parents.
and nothing crawled up my *** . dont get all 'pissy' at me because i made a comment (that is right no less) that you didnt like.
Ive been on this board longer than you, have seen alot more posts than you, and i cant honestly say that you can get the same results from PLAIN ****ING CARDBOARD.
Now as long as we're on the topic.. you could always go and buy a sheet of Dynomat (i believe $15) and use that to stop 6x9 rattles.
kev
p.s. - you guys really think youre cars are gonna last 20 more years? i hope to god they do too, but i dunnooo. guess it depends on how you take care of it!

well lets see here... you 2 hunderend and some odd posts monkie over 2 thousand. Who's been here longer?... I wounder. Now as for the dynomat why spend 15-20 when a 3 buck piece of foam does the same thing?.
Now for the car lasting longer 20 years?.. well who knows? It all depends on the owner and if THEY CARE ABOUT THEIR RIDE ENOUGH TO TAKE CARE OF IT. Me personally plan on having it for a LONG TIME FROM NOW.
i put the foam behind on of the metal plates today, i also took the felt "box" thing out and put electrical tape over the staaples in it, i had a hard time screwing it back together becaus i didnt remove the whole panel, i used a piece of foam about 1" thick after tighening it down, the plate sticks out about 1cm farther, i havent tested it yet, because im in the middle of rewireing my system and my reciever hasnt arived yet, but it looks like it will work perfect

hunter, if you go back and read... i carefully posted that 'ive seen more posts'. Ive not said anything about how many posts ive posted, nor was i referring to monkie.
as for the dynomat, i simply was only making another suggestion, Plus this is what the Dynomat is for.
kev
p.s.- glad to see you made one friend on this board after the fiasco with jim.

And the friend comment... I could really care less if anybody here likes me or not. You can go ask Tomp in the V6 board we do not get along either...
