How can I tell if my Radio is a Bose unit needing the Amp?

I bought a 1992 Factory Delco radio. Sticker on top says so.
It says Delco on the front.
AM Stereo button, also.
It has 5 band eq.
It has 4 pushbutton (which I made 7 stations)
Cassette.
Do I need the amp?
It fits perfect in my 1985 Firebird dash space.
It also has the "ribbon" (black & blue w/blue using only 4 wires) connector on the back.
THANKS

Wish you knew the answer instead of a comment.
Most JUNIOR members enjoy offering an answer that's helpful.
And to share knowledge.
Beyond showing you know how to spell cassette.

I've put stereos in many of my friends' cars and never have I seen one that *needs* an amp to run. My suggestion is forget about an AC Delco (ick) tape player and just go get a new Alpine deck... you won't regret it. =)

Hi Fade00,
I appreciate that last tip.
That is a good guide, as I am hoping my speaker wiring it outta phase.
W/the wire diagram you sent, it's a help.
I really doubt this is a PreAmp head unit, only.
Nothing shows radio needing an amp, no wires for that mission.

Sounds like you have the top of the line Delco AM/FM cassette stereo with the EQ. If it were a Bose unit, it should say so on the face plate.

By the way, any good name brand head unit will sound better than the older Delco ones.

This is such a dirt cheap car.
This radio also deters theft (who wants it)?
I use a CD adaptor.
I just want it to sound good.
Actually the best speakers make any cheap radio sound good.
And these speakers have never been used, the previous owner radio was a factory one, broken, from 1985.
You guys are giving me all the clues I need to make this radio sound better
THANKS!
I just want to leave the L-R, F-R settings in the correct position, instead of off center. For more full sound.
