Ok this may sound Dumb But please bear with me, and explain if possible
Let's say I wan't to install all new components into my camaro.
theoretically I have
1. My 6x9, 4x6, a Kenwood eXcelon Z919 deck, and 12in woofers(in a box).
2. Not sure what type of amp I sould get, or need
3. How should I go about to hook all of this up?
If There is a website out the that explains all of this already, please point me in that direction, if not I would appreciate all the help.
I would all so like recommendation on what components I should get. I'm not looking for anything super outragous, just a nice system to listen to my music on.
By the way I like Rock and stuff like that, if that helps.
Thanks, Kj

Check out the member pages at sounddomain.com and look under camaros, they have lots of members that post up how they did installs, its a little intimidating, but not too rough. The technical article on this page is pretty helpful too.

Uggh... A great deck, nice low end, but drop the $150 for the kickpanels someone is selling here and get some nice components up front.
A good 5 channel might work. A good 4 channel with another 2 channel bridged to one channel might work. Depends on your budget.
When you mean how, what exactly do you mean? Like hold my hand the whole time, or just a little? If you have to ask how to pull out the front seats for example, you might want to go to the local market, get a case a beer and find friend who can help you out.

No, I am familer with most of the process. It's the amp part that gets me. I have never wired one up before and that is what gets me. I just want to know.
1. How to hook it to the batterie
2. Where to run the line, and how to get it there.
I know how to hook up most of the stuff at that point.

I recently went through the same challenges. Hooking up the battery terminal is not a big problem. Presumably, you have a battery with side and top posts. All I did was buy a brass top mount terminal at Auto Zone for like $5.00 to wire my amp (and head unit- new Alpine) to the battery. Just crimp on a ring terminal, make sure you have an appropriate fuse close to the battery, and screw it down.
To run wire, you will have to pull up some trim panels and carpet to hide everything (kick panels, sill plates, sail panel molding, rear hatch molding). Most trim panels in our cars have the screws visible, and are pretty easy to take off. There are differing opnions, but I've always heard you should run the power, ground, and turn-on on the same side as the battery; and run the RCA down the opposite side.
Getting wires to the battery was my problem. You have to find a hole in the firewall, or punch one in. If you know the mechanicals of the car, and are not afraid to do something stupid- you can try it yourself with a drill that will cut metal (and put a rubber grommet in the hole). I took it to a shop just to watch them. They took the trim panel off of the lower part of the driver's side dash. Then from the engine side of the firewall, they punched a hole in with an air-gun drill. Later,I put the second hole (for the amp) in myself right next to the original hole. Since it was a favor, and took all of ten minutes to do, he just charged me $15.00 for the hole, wire, and fuse/fuseholder.
Hope this helps.

I don't care if you buy $500 4"x6"s, there going to sound like crap in that stock location.
Learn from my $89.00 mistake. Get kick panels.
