PLEASE help with Bose Kickpanel.....
I have a stock Bose system in my 87 IROC, and my passengerside speaker isn't working. It would cut in and out at random and hasn't cut in for a while. I thought it was a loose with but I took it apart, did some tests, and found that it get's a signal and power into the amp/crossover unit but nothing out of it. Can I get this thing fixed anywhere? Could I just buy the amp from GM, or should I go to a junkyard?
You've got a few choices. Either you find out from your local Chevy dealer who they outsource their stock radios to and take it there. Be prepared to pay anywhere from $60-$110 per enclosure to repair. You can also send it directly to Bose. They'll do it for $75 each (this is what I did for mine...I like to get things fixed at the source with a warranty.) Otherwise there are some websites out there for companies who'll sell you the amps by themselves. Average on those is about $45 each.
Here's a few links for repair and one for parts. I researched this about four years ago and the number of businesses on the web who sell the Bose amps has gone down to nada. Just found one of the sites still up and they have doubled their price for the amp!
