INFINITY PLATE 4x6'S PLEASE HELP!!!
INFINITY PLATE 4x6'S PLEASE HELP!!!
Saturday I bought the Infinity 4652cfp plate 4x6's. Well.. I wired them in and everything and when I went to screw them in all 4 holes didn't match up... also it won't go all the way down like the old speakers did. **i think they were the factory speakers... they were Delco brand and had this nasty lookin black piece over the top of the speakers** Now that I've put the dash on when the speakers are loud and the mid hits it sounds horrible. It rattles the dash and sounds bad. Like it's busted but I know it's not. I think it is touching the bottom of the dash and making that sound. Anywayz... has anyone else had this problem before? The speaker up too high? If so how did you fix it? And should I take these back and get some other brand 4x6's? What brand I thought about getting Polk Audio 4x6's because I thought they sounded pretty good. Thanks In Advance.

yeah buddie you should take them back, visit crutchfield.com, they'll tell you what kinds of speakers will fit in YOUR car. Infinity's are great, but find something that will fit better. peace,

I had no problems with the fit of my Infinity Kappa 4x6 plates. I'd take a close look at the area around your speakers. I know I had some loose pieces of metal that needed to be removed before putting the speaker in. They were just flopping around and one piece needed to be cut off. I'd do just take a close look before taking them back because I love the sound of the Kappa speakers.

The 91 camaro has a dash similar to the firebirds. The infinitis may be a bit large, so you may need to work the dash a tad. One of the stereo articles on this website will give you step by step install instructions.

Yea Jims right. I tried the Kappas and they wouldn't fit worth crap. I shoved and pushed trying to make them fit(drivers side). I got them to fit in there but I didn't like the fit at all so I took them back and got the Reference Series coaxial 4x6. I'd keep the Kappa's they sound better and modify the dash so they'll fit. If I had it to do over again I'd put in the Kappa 4" Component Set and make a plate for them so I could mount the speakers where I wanted them. The Reference sound good tho, better than my Excelon's I had.

If you want 4x6's that will drop right in with no problems then you can get the Kenwood KFC-4675 speakers, but they sound like CRAP!
I replaced mine with the Infinity Kappa's and now I'm a happy camper.
I had the same problems as you are having with the install.
THey do stick up a bit and you have to work them a bit for the fit.
There are 3 or 4 plastic tabs that stick up in the dash to hold the factory speakers in place. I took a pair of dykes and cut those tabs off on both sides of the car.
The pass side fit right in with no problems. The drivers side sticks up about a 1/4" and I just used some washers between the speaker and the dash and mounted them in.
Had no problems with the dash fitting and they sound great and don't rattle.
If yours sound like crap then you might have them wired backwards.
Check your + and - .

I had to hack some dash plastic away to fit my Kappa plates in on the d/side.
