Question about a box set up

ok, instead of having standard type camaro box with the 2 12's on top, i seen a box built with the same design, but the 12's were on the side of the box facing the tail lights. would this sound any different that the normal type box? i would want this box for security reasons, and i'm curous to know if it would sound different, cause more rattle, especially to the tail lights. what do you guys thing? thanks.

Camaro, I built a box like that with a single 12" facing back and was quite impressed. I didn't have the time to do a direct comparison to the upright style, but considering I had a single 8 ohm 12W0 powered by an anemic Kicker Impulse 652i, I was quite impressed with the output we got, and the sound quality was great. It hit real hard and sounded real smooth. Anyway, here's a couple pics:

im not holding it against you, jus kinda getting irrated because thats the only place i have found a box like that

so i give them an e-mail, requesting info for the box, then he replies back like 2 days later and says i need a zip for shipping info, so i reply back only with zip, and after like 5 days , i send a mail back asking them if they lost my mail, well he replies back with we get like 300-400 e-mails a day blah blah blah and i need to include all info when sending him e-mail, so i sent my address, the box i wanted, zip, how i will pay, car year and everything, and its been a week or a more and no response yet...

ill try one more time...

How much do they charge for that type of box and how could it have any advantages (other than anti-theft) over the more typical "subs-on-top" style?

By having the sub facing back, it increases the "horn loading" effect. It's basically like firing the speaker through a sea-shell horn like you see in concert-style bass bins. Does it increase output? Probably. I don't have any SPL numbers, but I've been impressed with results so far, but most importantly, it's not just another "me too" box. It adds a very unique element to an otherwise vanilla-only car stereo.

Klay, if you don't mind me asking, what is the name of the place that you're getting this wonderful service from?

hey, thanks alot jim, that's the box i want, only to hold 2 kicker 12L7's though. so you're saying it should sound good? cool. hey Klayburn, i see you posted my old box. i think i'm gonna cry now. :-) also klayburn, same with me now. he told me to pick the box i want, method of payment, shipping info even though i was gonna drive to pick it up. i go back on their website, and keep getting a broken link now. emailed him 2 days ago to ask him about it, and he hasn't wrote back yet. i'm about to drive up there to see what's up.

my bad klayburn. yeah, i'm going up there tommorrow, so i'll pick it up for you. i checked how far apart we live on yahoo, and it's about a 5 1/2 hour drive one way and like 250 miles. it's up to you if you want to pick it up or me ship it out. either way, i'll put the order in tomorrow in person along with paying for it. i'll let you know what happens tomorrow evening. i got you though, so don't worry. talk to ya later.
