Head unit cutting out
I recently bought the Sony ES CDX-M670. It worked great for about a week, and now its screwy. I for some reason or another i pushed the faceplate up while it was turned on. The unit just shut off!! It acted as if i had turned the unit off completely, not just "standby" I have gone over a couple of bumps (not big ones..CD doesn't skip) and it has shut off. Sometimes when i put the face plate on, it doesn't recognize it and stays FULLY off... its should goto "standby" mode when i put it back on!!! What in the world os going on? Is it a short or the unit... it worked fine!!! Its an awsome unit, i don't want to take it back.. i had a bad experience with the store, thats why i got a new head unit.. long story.
Help me!!

Try cleaning the contacts on the back of the faceplate and on the deck with alcohol and a q-tip. They may be dirty. Also, look carefully to see if any of the contacts look bent or damaged.

I took the head unit out and checked all the connections. I made sure that they were all secure and even taped up the antenna lead since it was exposed (i thought it might be grounding on something. All has been well excpept for one instance... the display blacked out. I pushed down on it and it fixed it. I think that the contacts are either faulty or dirty on the faceplate. I wouldn't think that they would be dirty though, its only been installed for a week!! Weird. I will clean the contacts though.
