I've used Pioneer speakers in several different cars for stock replacements. They have always sounded good. Definately the choice to make on a budget. I'm not sure which model they have at Wal-Mart. Make sure it has a polypropelene cone (not untreated paper) and a real (not whizzer) tweeter.

I've installed lots of Pioneer speakers. I'd say they sound nice, put out a good amount of bass, and don't cost too much.

Almost everything you see at Wal-Mart is unique, model-number wise. The Pioneer and Jensen stuff especially, is all a different color and model number from what you'll find anywhere else.

But the stuff is pretty much the same except for the color. You might be able to find a similar Pioneer speaker somewhere else, just with a different color and model number.

Also, there are different lines of Pioneer. Here's how the Pioneer rep told it to me: If the model starts with TS-G, it's "great" speaker. If it start with TS-A, it's "awesome."

I'm sure that's just some silly thing the rep made up to help us remember. But the
TS-As are definitely the upgraded version.

You're kidding right? Hahaha... I found a pair of the exact same model in the back seat of a bird at my local junk yard in perfect condition and smuggled them out!! I've been running them ever since and they sound excellent, especially since they were free but definitely Pioneer's are a good bet.
