What were they thinking?

Sorry about this, but I just have to vent. Months ago I bought a Pioneer 1-1/2 din deck, with 3 band para EQ, etc. The engineers must have been out to lunch on this one. An excellent deck in every way EXCEPT for the ONE PAIR of low level outputs. So either Pioneer thinks that people should be happy with the "45 x 4" (actually 12 x 4) & a sub OR having one set of low level out with no sub control. Thanks, Pioneer, some excellent ideas!

uhm, its called a LOW level pioneer deck, you know, you prolly paid a whole $150 for it, its called Premier dude, 3 sets of RCA preouts...

you get what you pay for, and if you paid over $150-$200 for a pioneer deck with only 1 preout, im assuming its a lower entry deck, you coulda spent another $100 and got a nice premier deck...

Klay, The MSRP on this deck is $ 599.00 Canadian. It's not a low level deck by any means. At least it's not a low level price. But thanks. I did get this deck off e-bay, however, and I assumed it would have at least a sub out since it has sub controls. Yes there are decks out there that have sub outs AND front/ rear outs for half the price. That was my point.

Unfortunately, those DIN 1/2 Pioneers cost WAY more than a single DIN unit with the same features, which is probably why they're so unpopular.

And I do agree with you that it's pretty lousy and cheap of them to skimp on the preouts like that.

I have a single din head unit in my maro from pioneer. i think its the p33 but i bough a remote so its the same as a 3300 but you can run an amp off the one low level output have that amp power your door speakers and everything, then on some amps they can acctually share a single rca output (sony exlplode for example). you shoulda gotten the single din though

man you must have really got screwed then, you can pick up the top of the line premier for $300(and thats including shipping) off of dutch auctions off ebay, and i bought amps off the guy that does the sales and all of it is brand new in the box still with still sealed plastic, might be a warrenty problem somewhere down the road, but if you buy quality equipment, shouldnt have to worry about it anyways...

whats the model number of that deck?

No Klay, I didn't get screwed. I paid 275.00 Canadian for it on e-bay. Any more than that and I wouldn't have bought it. What I liked about the deck is that it looks good and fits my T/A perfectly. I also like the big buttons and vol. control. The model # is DEH P77DH. I simply assumed that with all the excellent features on this deck that they would've had the forethought to include 3 RCA's.

Last time I looked (which was a good while ago), no one made a 1 1/2 din HU with 3 set of preouts. That's exactly why I didn't buy one. Maybe you can find some kind of XO, EQ, DSP, ect. that will accept one set of inputs and has three sets of outputs. You'll be stuck with only balance or fader (not both) but, otherwise, the problem will be solved.
