Alot of comparisons are made here dealing with audiobahn subs. I was starting to look at picking up some of their amps since I just got one of their eq's. My gut says stick with rockford but I'm open to personal experiences. Thanks.

I say rockford has been one of the most impressive amps i have seen, they take a beating and then some, sound quality coming from them sound pretty good also. In my opinion i would stick with RF.

Go with the RF stuff. Its an innovator and Audiobahn is a copier (not to bag on them too much, but the Japanese kicked our asses in alot of areas of manufacturing by copying American designs and making them better).

The other thing, is that Audbiobahn has so many models (since they are looking at copying everything on the market) that you might have a hard time deciding, understanding what benefits these models have, or even finding a dealer in stock (they have about 15 lines of woofers)

I don't prefer Audiobahn for amps, but their amps are actually very good. Better than any amp I've ever heard at Best Buy. In fact all of their products are quality. They are primarly a competition company that only sells to small shops and not Best Buy or consumer level stores. Although they are becoming more mainstream.

Also since when is a lot of lines a bad thing. They offer many types of sub woofers so a woofer will apply to an customer's needs wheather they are SPL comp. or someone who wants a little more bass in their music. I say go with Audiobahn.

I have had both amps from fosgate and audiobahn. The fosgate would shut itself off after about 1 hour of cont. play and then it dies after a year and a half. It was a punch amp. I now have the audiobahn, with a fan. It has not shut off yet and is in my opinion, much better than fosgate

I wouldn't put a audiobahn in my car for a few reasons (or anything cut from the same cloth).

They are marketing driven, not product driven. Eclipse has a aluminum cone, so they make one. I like buying stuff from companies that make innovative products, not "me too" products.

Frankly, I don't care for the looks. The chrome handles don't do it for me. Just the look itself screams "cheap". Voltmaters in places that aren't necesary (besides the dash, why do you need a voltmeter on an amplifier? or cap? or an EQ).

As for the Best Buy comment, of course listening to an amp on a sound board is going to make it sound like a$$. Most speakers were designed for cars and not small cheap best buy displays. Most amps sound pretty close anyway, what you pay for is wattage, features and quality.

They are NOT a competition company, but a company who knows how to market very well. The know very well that if you get your stuff featured in magazines, it will sell. So they have sponsored some hideous imports (and some serious competitors with nice cars) to get to the young crowd. In the marketing department, they get an A+. While other companies keep limiting itself by making stuff more expensive and harder to get, Audiobahn has focused in making too many things. Sadly enough, someone in the industry mentioned that Audiobahn is owned by a guy who is loaded, and gets away with "borrowing" from other designs because some companies don't have the resources to go after them.

Too many lines is a bad thing when you are a shop and a customer. I go in and I want widget "A" and they say "well, we have to customer order it because all we have is widget "B, C, D, E and F". Its hard for a small shop to carry 10 lines of woofers. So you have to custom order. Of course they will try to push you towards something they have in stock (or you will want something now, because you just got your tax return, or its your birthday, etc.). 32 Woofers in 10 lines to be exact (and 21 different amps). As a salesmen, could you imagine if they offered a Firebird in 10 different models with 32 different trim levels? How do you compare the ABC to the DCE model? Frankly, Good/Better/Best seems to have worked very well for most car audio companies over the years, but 10 woofer lines makes it tough for people to stay informed.

The other problem with too many lines is it isn't good for a shop either. You want a high end line, a middle line and a low line. Frankly, I wouldn't pay top dollar for an offshore made brand. Too many nice things made in the US for similar money.

Personally Audiobahn is not my favorite company, I would recommend Memphis or Eclipse over Audiobahn any day. However, Audiobahn is not a bad company. I have installed their subs and amps and not one customer was disappointed. I belive that overall their amps and subs are better sounding than Rockfords, even though they might cost more depending on where you get it. Yes they have copied many designs from American companies, such as the Aluminum cone woofer, which IMO does not sound as good as Eclipses'. And explaining differances between lines is tough sometimes.

I doubt any shop sells many subs higher than the Aluminum series. After all not many people want to spend $600-$3000 per sub just to be able to slam going down the road (although some do). You buy these to compete in SPL competetion.

i have ran fosgate for over a yet, i drive around town and pound it constantly, i do not believe the shut off after an hour and die after a year, are you sure you had everything hooked up correctly? the only time my fosgate amp has EVER shut off(1 of 3), was when i had a blanket over it, and it started smoking the blanket(yes, there are acual burn marks on the blanket), and when i touched it, my fingers blistered...

i'll stick with my kickers thank you I'm not crazy about the new RF's and i've never really dealt with audiobahn's stuff. From what i gather from everyone i talked to is that their good stuff is pretty good, and their low end line is terrible, again thats what i hear
