Where are you guys mounting CD changers??

I just bought one and I'm wondering where to put it. I assume most people have theirs in the little storage compartment in the trunk?? Any other good places to keep it out of sight?

Yeah, that's where I put mine. Keeps it accessible.

A friend of mine stuck one where his spare was, but that was SERIOUSLY inconvenient. He ended up mainly using his in-dash CD player 'cause he couldn't be bothered with constantly removing the cover.

i just have mine on my deck for now, until i get enough motavation to run the wires better and hide it, its staying there. I had a idea of hiding it in the trim, and cutting out enough of a space to access the catridge, but that goes back to the motavation part. Ill do it someday.

I haven't see this in a thirdgen, but you may be able to modify the glove box to fit one. Once again, never seen this done on our cars but it would be an option if your changer could fit and you didn't mind some healthy modification
I assume it would take a fairly slim unit in order to make it work, though.

I've seen a 3rd gen with it in the center console box, you just need to make a new lid for it that gives you an extra 2 inches or so of room.

Main problem with the center console box is the depth. I put in a 12 disc so that made even the width (height of the changer) a problem as well.

Front passenger side dash has ducting for the defroster behind it as well as the ECM. You'd have to do alot of custom work to get it to fit in there. That would be your main problem, much smaller task would be how to hide it and make it look appealing when finished.

Mines mounted in the rear compartment, drilled it right into the main subframe rail that runs underneath it, siliconed it and its fine. Skips more than the head unit of course because its mounted right to the frame but its not bad.

Spare tire area is better suited for other things and without making a special door to access it would be a PITA like TrueBlue mentioned.

The deck in the rear is too accessible. If you have the locking cover for the deck (not the side compartment) then you could put it under there and be reasonably safe. A twelve won't fit under the seats but a 6 disc might, so you could try that. Otherwise, I've pretty much thought about just every location you could put one.

i saw a TA at a show once that had the AC removed. when you lifted that little flap on the dash in front of the passenger seat that's prettymuch good for papers, the changer was hidden under there. The owner of the car had someone else do it, so he had no clue how it was done, but it was certainly trick.
