What the HECK is with PIONEER?!!? DOES ANYONE KNOW?!!!?

I know a lot about car audio but this is what stumps me. I have 2 pioneer 6X9's and there are two prongs for + and - on the magnets but THEY ARE NOT LABELED + or -!!!! Why does poineer do this (or is it just these speakers?!!? I've had these for about a year. One prong is wider while the other is skinnier. I've solved this by trial and error seeing which hookup gets more bass etc but I still have that feeling that I'm missing out. Does anyone know which one is infact positive and negative? It didn't say on the box or anything either.

I'm sorry but he's right, there is NO way that rockwood or crunch even compares to Pioneer. You need a head check. And, what's with the mustang?!?

Come one guys, where's the sense of humor? I think hi-po-ny was making a joke, saying that the Pioneers are even worse than Rockwood. Get it? I thought it was pretty funny anyway.

1984Firebird502, like Eric said, those speaker terminal sizes are pretty much an industry standard now...took the manufacturers long enough to finally do it.

Anyway, the speaker terminals are mounted onto what looks like a piece of white cardboard, correct? I'm surprised the polarities aren't stamped into there.

Also, if you look at the short length of wire Pioneer gives you with each speaker, the wires are marked...black stripe is negative.

Pioneer assumes that you use their speakers with their head units and don't use wiring kits. The different sizes on their speaker wires are just their way of making so easy to connect their stuff that a complete fool can hook it up.

BTW, you may actually see the polarity of each lead engraved on the speaker terminal itself if you look closely.
