holley+carb adaptor fit under fbird stock hood?

Yea I know this has probably been asked a 100,000 time but anyway. If I get a holley or maybe just use one of the edelcraps I have with a 3/4 or 1in adaptor plate will it fit with a drop base air cleaner,82 fbird? or would I have to get a small cowl like my camaro has? The qjets playing games. Non cc system.

I couldn't get my Speed Demon to fit with the adapter plate. It was about .5in to tall. Did you know holley makes q-jet bolt pattern carbs. There are quite a few with this bolt pattern. I have a 6210 650cfm. It fit without any problems, even though I still had to use a dropbase aircleaner and a 3in tall element.

GRRR.5 , Thats what I was thinking. I had to get a cowl for my camaro but I was hoping that it was just cause I had a stealth manifold on that.
OW well thanks for conferming what I thought John.

I used a 3/4" adapter/spacer and a 14X3 dropbase on a stock manifold (for now) and had no problems with fit on my 86 camaro.

Hmmm, I do have bolth a 14x3 drop and 9x2 air cleaners, ye old faithful adaptor plate & an edelcrap so checking it out wont cost a dime. I have to take the qjet off and run through it so i'll give the edlebrock a try then upgrade to a holley to it fits. Its worth a try.
Thanks guys!

I did get the edelbrock + spacer + 14x3 drop base+ air cleaner riser to fit with no problems. It amazes me though the stealth and the same edelbrock wouldent fit under the camaro got a nice ding in that hood to prove it, eventualy went for a cowl on that one.
But It runs great with the edelbrock 17 on the vac guage compared to the 15 with the qjet and milage has improved yet performance has degraded a bit. But all in all not to bad.
Thanks for all the replys guys.
