Are you going to be using the car more as a daily driver, or more for racing exclusively?
Reason I ask, the Q-Jet can flow 750cfm. Stock/original, they're around 600-650ish. Kept up properly, they'll get you great street performance and decent mileage and they're moddable to flow 750. That's what I use on my car, and i've got the same car as you. The last time I ran the car (G-Tech, anyway) it pulled off a 14.4@93mph with the CC Q-Jet, but i've got additional mods to boot.
If you really want to get into more drag performance and put a different non-CC carb on there, you'll also be looking at a vac. advance distributor, and a Torque Converter lockup switch or kit. Basically, when the Q-Jet is removed, the Electronic Spark Advance and Torque Conv. Lockup will quit working for lack of the Throttle Position Sensor.
Hope i've helped some.

That is exactly what you want to do! Also, buys some carb cleaner and spray everything clean, then spray the remainder down the secondaries. Also, put some in the gas tank.

I have just rebuilt my Q-JET on my L69. In addition to the great tech articles here, I found a good website good website that has alot of information about the Q-JET. It even has a full parts diagram, which was valuable to be since I did not know what everything was called at first.

Look about 3/4 the way down the page, under "Air Fuel Induction"
Hope this helps
