My car is acting like it has a vacuum leak somewhere. I have looked closely around the carb and intake, and I can't see anywhere it could be leaking. I was just wondering if anyone knew any tricks to help me find it.

 

Spray some carb cleaner, the idle will increase where the leak is.

 

There are many methods. Above is the best one but it's tough to find a leak that's far from the engine that way- like a transmission modulator or a leak in the HVAC vacuum servos under the dash. ALso try pinching various vacuum lines one at a time with a pair of pliers (don't do this to the hard plastic ones!). When you hit the offending line the idle will slow down and smooth out. THen trace the line to wherever it goes and figure out how it's leaking.

 

Propane torch. Don't light it, just turn it on and start pointing the tip around anywhere you suspect the leak. Thwe rpm's will increase when the propane is drawn into the engine. It's nowhere near as messy as the method above and is safe for all the electronics.
