new to the carb world

hey i'm thinking about getting a camaro with carb, 1983 camaro z-28 which i believe is a 4-barrel HO motor (the guy rebuilt the motor so i don't know if it's still the 4-barrel HO setup) my previous camaro was a TBI so i'm pretty much clueless on carb. I want to make a pretty decent powerful car, shooting for 300hp, what kind of heads, cams, intake manifold, and stuff like that would i need? I'm definately going to put in new headers and new exhaust system. Thanks in advance.
haha and i know this a stupid question, but what's the gas milage on carb? just wondering, could it be worse than what i was getting before with my stock TBI?

Carbs are worse than TBI on gas. The cam and the head matching will be the biggest thing to look at. The rest just add a little here and there. Not sure what set up is best to go with. Hard to say. No two motors even though they are built the same will be the same.
