Hey guys,
I am planning to remove my CFI system and put in a new intake/carb - I have read the article from the tech section on doing this but I am a little new to this. So far from what I know I need a vacume advance distributor - intake - carb. Can anyone help me out by telling me exactly what I am going to need?
this would be a huge help!
Thanks,
Ben

One question first: Do you have to go through emissions testing/inspection? If you do, your options will be much more limited.
What question or questions weren't answered in the tech article? Are you asking specifically what carb or distributor to buy? The tech article is pretty good, other than telling you the p/n of the Holley you should use (if it said that, then the whole article would be suspect).

i live in minnesota, there are no emission laws (well, they don't check if there is)
The tech article is very good, I just wanted to know about minor details such as ... are the fuel lines going to fit, is the throttle cable long enough?
So far here is what I have purchased for this swap
Edelbrock Performer series 600 cfm electronic choke carb
Edelbrock RPM AirGap Intake Manifold
Remanufactured Vacume Advance Distributor
Holly 120gph Mechanical Fuel Pump (I purchased the 80gph but I got a note in the box that said due to stock availability we have upgraded your fuel pump to a holly 120gph, no complaints here =])
180* thermostat
Intake Gaskets
RTV Silicone
Hope this helps

You may need a carburator type fuel pressure regulator if that holley pump is more than 7 psi at idle. Some racing ones are 15psi.
Edelbrock recommends 6psi at idle for there carbs.
You may need to remove your tank pickup and remove the electric in tank fuel pump, and improve the pick up. A carb needs a lot of volume but not much pressure to operate properly.
You want it to go just about to the bottom of the tank
at the rear most part of the deepest part.
The easy way to access your tank pickup is through your trunk floor. Remove the carpet and cut an access door in the trunk floor
over the tank pickup. Do your improvements and then just fold the "door back down and sucure with screws and rtv sealer.
Other wise you'll have to drop the tank.
Should have 3/8" fuel lines from the tank to the carb.

conversion
when i converted the cfi on my vette, i left the in tank f.p. in and it has not caused any problems. i would reccommend mounting the fuel pump as close to the tank as possible. you will need a little rubber fuel line to cut your fuel lines and run them to your carb. you will need a bracket from edelbrock to connect your tv cable to the carb. you will need a toggle switch to run a wire to controll your lock up torque converter. the fuel pressure regulator needs to have a return line connection. as a matter of fact, if you run return line type f.p. reg. you can probably get by with your stock fuel pump.
good luck,
