My Ram Air Carb Special!! "pics now posted"

Ok here's the deal. I have an 86 camaro T-tops with a 305 carburated stock and a flowmaster exhaust system.

I miss the power of my 79 Camaro it's as simple as that.

So I've been reading on how restrictive the air flow on the standard snorkel is. And face it the flow of air into and out of a engine affects performance greatly. And in my opinion 2 snorkels is still to restrictive. So i mossied around home depot for a while and picked out some goodies.

Long story short I can't believe how much more power this 305 has and how much meaner it is when I hit the pedal.

I've been joy riding the whole night.

I will post some photos tomorrow! If you'd like to try something similar. "The total cost was less than $20!

Call me a moron if ya like but it's cheap horses!

Alright.

First off, this has nothing to do with power adders. Second off, you attached a picture of your car on the first post when it was irrelevant. That wastes valuable server space.

Now, Im moving this and dont repeat that garbage.

Thanks.

Well evidently the critisism around here is pretty strong. I'm awfully sorry my tinkering pisses you all off.

The moderators around here are real winners to.
This is the first board I've seen where they make fun of people's
grammar and belittle there's questions!

Well.... Just kidding - sorry,I had to

You do, of course, realize that just behind the snorkel opening it necks down to a 1.25"x2.25" opening right? That is choking the engine horribly compared to a dual snorkel. That "ram air" is just a "cold air" - and not much air at that. You might have gained 2HP.

Honestly - you need to get rid of the aircleaner altogether - not just the ducting. Go for the dual snorkel.

And on the moderator bit - I agree - Guido does need to settle down. It's not like you commited a crime. Jeez, you're obviously new here with all of 20 posts.

I got to give the man credit. He didn't order it from some magazine for $125.00 like I see so many people do around here and think they got a deal. He spent $20 to $40 for that and he is happy with it. Being happy with you r car is what counts!

looks neat. people have drawn up tech articles about this, but it's much nicer to see actual pictures to get an overall look.

keep up the good work, the car looks sharp.

yeh,If you spent $100 on 1 of those "ram air boxes" or a ho dual snorkel air cleaner then any gains would be worth it.If you cut a whole and add another snorkel to the factory LG4 air cleaner then run the dual scoops as the factory did to the air cleaner then your only losing the space where the lg4 snorkel(s) gets narrow going into the air cleaner(as mentioned above). This space is worth $100-$150?I dont think so.Not for the "2 hp" this mode will give you.It wont look as good as that $10 piece of plastic sold in magazines that they charge you $120.00 for but if both are worth only 2-5hp? then who cares.Dont pay attention to anyone with over 500 post, they know too much and want you to know it.
