Need help on choosing a new carb.
Need help on choosing a new carb.
Soon I will swapping out my little 2.8 for a mild 355. But I need some help on choosing the right carb. I'm running 10.3:1 compression, with Double Humps 462 castings, Comp Cams XE268H cam, Comp Cams Magnum 1.5 Roller Rockers with Accel HEI distributor, stock torque converter on 700-R4, 3.42 rear gears no posi, and Performer RPM intake. I was thinking about around 750cfm. Any help you guy can give me to point me in the right direction, will be greatly appreciated.

Vacumn Secondary
A Holley #3310
or an edelbrock # 1407
have both, both run GREAT (properly tuned of course) on my 388!

Thanks for clearing that up, but I have one more question, is there any advantage in running Vacuum Secondary Vs. Manual Secondary. Glad to be hearing from people who know what they are talking about.

On an Automatic car you want a V. Secondary carb, the carb will "self tune" the secondaries according to engine "load"
a Mech. secondary carb (or double pumper) works better on a maunal car where Load is determined by the driver/clutch/gaspedal/etc.
besides a V.S. carb is more "user friendly"

If it's for driving on the street you can't beat a well tuned QJet. It fits all the criteria to a T and gets great mileage.
