who makes a cold air induction system for carbs? ive seen many F.I. kits but not any carb kits. i am running an open element right now. is there a big diference between the two? i plan on getting a 2 1/2 inch cowl hood too if that makes a difference as to which i should use.

Yes, GM makes (made) one... it's called a L69 air cleaner.

No, mine's not for sale. But there often are ones for sale in the classifieds on this site.

There is a company that makes fiberglass ram air boxes for our cars. Super Chevy tested them out and I'm seriously considering it. They claimed that test vehicles were .2-.4 seconds faster in the 1/4, and they got up to 3 mpg increase in gas mileage. They also claim as much as a 10 percent increase in HP over an open element, but I'm a little more skeptical about that. Check out their site.

The cowl induction hood would make a difference. If your going with the Ram Air Box system, you won't need the cowl hood. I my self like the ideal of the cowl induction system from the first gen cars on our cars....the old flapper valve!!! would be cool. Ram air hasn't much gain (HP) on the street. It's mostly the cold air not the ram effect that effects street cars. True ram system are great ram rain systems too. I remember when bikes where just starting to use them....not untill 120+mph did test show any gains from ram effect. Just remember: if you don't have to rejet for a mod, your not making much of a difference. (if it does you were jetted wrong in the first place)
