Me too dude!
I bought an Edelbrock performer RPM intake and I'm carb-shopping. I have been advised not to go any larger than a 600cfm or the carb will actually be counterproductive. I have also been told to look for one with an electric choke (which I kinda figured) and with mechanical secondaries since my car has a manual tranny. Not sure what you're looking for there bud. Are you looking for another Rochester Quadrajet or something different? There are tonnes of places to buy them. Check out some websites like Holley.com or Edelbrock.com and look for dealers in your area. Those websites should be able to help you with your selection and then tell you where you can purchase it. That's how I have been doing a lot of my research as well as talking to others who've done similar swaps.

I assume you're looking for a cc q-jet. There are a few options:
Jet Performance. Send them yours, tell them about the rest of your car, they'll fix yours up.
Local parts store: Most can get you a rebuilt carb in exchange for yours.
JC Whitney: Yes, they have rebuilts available.
You really don't need to worry about getting more fuel through it. Tuning - well of course, you need to do that, at least on the secondaries. That's done with rods and hanger. I have done all you mentioned except NOS, and that's all I did to mine. NOS is fed fuel separately, so that's not an issue with the carb.
If you drive this car regularly, don't make the mistake of going with a non-CC carb like Holley or Edelbrock. You really can't do better for driveability, economy, and performance than the CC q-jet.
