Welcome aboard.

A little more information would be helpful, such as what carb, what engine, what transmission, what modifications have been done.

An engine shouldn't be run at WOT until it is fully warmed up. But, that yours seems to run better when it heats up indicates a lean secondary condition. The kink in the fuel line can't be helping anything, but it would tend to cause a fuel starvation problem (stumbling after a time at WOT), rather than a general poor running at WOT.

hose

most likely the kinked hose. Your fuel system may not be getting enough gas to the chambers. Or you may have ignition problems.

My buddy has a BB 454 and he was having stumbling at 4500 RPMs. So he got an MSD HEI kit. It didn't help.

He now knows that he need a biger carb to feed his merlin headed 454 with a 300 duration cam at some unbelievable lift.

Also the fact that he is running a VS carb doesn't help.

POINT: First replace the kinked hose

then it is a toss up between ignition/fuel pump/carb.

I would think it is a fuel pump issue because of the mileage. Then i would go igntion, then carb.

I doubt the kink has anything to do with your current issue. Being a stock engine, it most likely has very lean secondary metering rods & hanger. As many have related on this forum, changing the stock rods to DR's will make a dramatic improvement in the way it runs. A lower letter hanger will also help, most likely. See the tech articles for performance adjustment of the air valve tension.

You do need to fix that kink sometime. Might as well be before you do anything else to improve its performance. Replace the fuel filter while you're at it if you don't know when it was last changed.

The other thing that has to go is the stock single snorkel air cleaner. See the tech articles on making a dual snorkel (I'm not completely sure if a factory Camaro dual snorkel fits a TA).

After those things are taken care of, you may find your fuel pump and ignition are the next weak links.

i cut out the kinked hose and put a rubber one in and put on an open element air cleaner and for the most part that fixed my problem

rods and a hanger are less than $10 and take less than 5 minutes to change. all you have to do it unscrew the hanger, pull it off with the rods and put the new ones in. i got mine from summit.

At 190k that qjet has seen better days. It prob needs more than just hangers. Read up on qjet rebuilding and pull it off and go through everything. Driving the tbird a few more days ain't gunna kill you.
