stalling when car is cold!!!!!!
I dont remember much about these stupid electric choke deals,,,but I hear they dont work half the time. My problem is in the summer my car always stalled if it wasnt warmed up. It never stalled last year in the winter (the choke i guess would kick in and idle the car up) but now this winter the car wont stay running when cold either. The car seems to run perfect when it is been runnign for about 5-10 mins or so. I dont want to screw with the choke incase I mess up anything thats already working right, follow me??? How can I test to see if my choke is working,,,,plus what can I do if it is not working...as it looks like its rivited to the carb.
oh ya when I start the car it seems to want to idle up but it will slowly drop in rpms untill it bogs itself out,,,,,I either have to intermitanly give it a shot of gas,,,because just trying to hold it at a sertain rpm like 2500 to it will bog out too,,,,,and if I got the car in nutral and let the clutch out the car will bog out a bit easyier. Can anyone help me with this problem,,,,it is my choke right??
Plus a few of my sensors are gonne and my engine light is on,,,does my choke (know that),,,,do the sensors affect the operation of the choke?.
Oh my,,,thats a mouth full....Thanks if you can help!

ok as far as setting the choke hears what you do
at 70 degrees F the choke should be at about a 45 degree angle if its way cold out warm your car up to operating temp set the choke so it just is barly on if your doing it when its cold set it to have about a 1/4 opening then get your car warm and see where its at see if it opened up
hope this helps i set a lot of them this way and it works like a champ but you my have to play with it a lil bit to get it perfect witch it will never be but dont worry about that

just seen that yours is rivited that means your carm has never been gone trough you can adjust this 2 ways you can get a choke kit or a rebuild kit knock out the rivets and the kits have screews to replace them or you can take 2 neadle nose plyers and bend the rod a lil bit

First, is it running too rich when it stalls or to lean. Rich will blow black smoke out of the exhaust--and may indicate the choke pull-off isn't working correctly. First thing in the morning, pop the hood and remove the air cleaner. Open and close the throttle one time. This should close the choke and set the fast idle. Now, have someone start the car. The choke pull-off will partially open the choke once the engine is running--if it doesn't, the choke pull-off is broken, or the vacuum line to it is broken. Once you get that working, then drill out the rivets and adjust as needed. The choke system on carbs work, but not perfectly.

This is it.... Vacuum should cause that to move and open the choke slightly. Also, verify that you have 12 volts at the choke when it's running. What would also really help(once you verify the choke pull-off is working), is: when it stalls and runs poorly pop the hood and look at the choke--is it open or shut?
