Removing Carb...Got a question..

On the throttle lever there are two cables attached to it. One, on the outer most part is big and was easy to remove, however, there is a smaller cable on the inside part. Is this for the cruise control? How do I remove it?

And also there is a big line running into the Q-Jet in the rear near the base of the carb. What's this?

The small cable sounds like the TV cable for the 700R4 trans. Push it forward to disconnect it.

Other is brake booster source like fb305svs says.

Andy.

on my 86 lg4, the brake booster vacum source was from a direct tap into the manifold, not the carb from what i remmeber- and the pcv line was biger than most as i remember... just trace the line, and see where it leads.

the big outside one is for cruise control, the one on the inside is for throttle pedal, thee huge (metal vacuum line in the rear is for power brake booster.

Ok. Will I need to hook that power brake booster up to the new carb? The Holley doesn't have a plug for it in the back where the QJet does.

the power brake booster line should remain hooked up to the intake vacum source, not the carb if its initially set up that way.

OK and I have another question. Some one told me since I don't have emissions I could get the Performer Intake Manifold #2101 that doesn't have the EGR provisions. So when I go to put it on can I just put it on or do I have to plug anything in the heads?

Is that the big opening behind the carburetor bore on the intake manifold?

Whatever you do be careful with that TV cable clip. You'll be very sorry if you break it.

I did manage to get the TV cable disconnected from the carb and the carb is off. I have no idea how I got it off though.

yes, that is what that is on my car. Be sure to have the special filter/backfire blocker installed- if you have a backfire through the intake, you will damage your brake booster and need a new one.
