I just recently put an edelbrock 600cfm manual choke carb on my 350 with a performer intake and a 1" spacer. Now when I get on it, it feels great, but it just will not idle stable. anything below 900 rpm and it starts shaking like a madman. also if i'm just cruising around and tap it it sounds like it's just HOSING fuel. and it bogs a little under light throttle.
Personally I was thinking that the rods may not be dropping so it stays enriched, but I don't know how to check that. Everything stock on the carb primary .100 secondary.095 rod .071 x .047 and a beefy spring.

I have same problem but worse
I also have an edelbrock 600 with a performer intake on my 305.
My problems started this year when the cold weather hit.
When I start it it always starts quick but shakes and idles bad. you cant drive it at all till it warms up. Also if it starts and then stalls it will flood and flood badly. I have checked my electric choke and it is working fine. I don't know what else to do....let me know if you find any answers....Thanks

well, i solved my problem, turned out to be a plugged idle air bleed. All i needed to do was blow out all the idle ports with compressed air.
Thats cool. I am taking the carb apart today and clean everything. I had to do that last year but for a differant reason.
It funny though, When I was in my teens I had a 1969 Grand Prix with a 400 in it. It had a 4 barral Holly. My father drove the car before me for 5 years and I drove it for another 5 years. Although the 400 finally died due to much abuse the carb was never once taken apart or adjusted and always worked fine. I am wondering if the older carbs were built better. I may seek one out at a bone yard and rebuild it....I know this is a 3gen f-body board but here is a pic of that old GP anyway. I always will love that car....

Damn dude, that's pretty nice there.
I think the reason i'm always having to clean out my carb is because of all that crap they put in gas these days.
